The Global War
On December 7, 1941, the war in Europe escalates into a global war. Japanese aircrafts attack the American naval base Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. Shocked, the USA declares war on Japan, which has been pursuing an aggressive expansionist policy in East Asia since the early 1930s. In turn, Germany and Italy, who are in alliance with Japan, enter the war against the United States four days later. In addition to Europe and North Africa, the Pacific region is now also a theatre of war.
